Car Sort Level 42 route reference

Two Upper Gates Above A Square Road

Level 42 is compact but easy to jam. Two covered garage columns sit above a square loop, four covered bays fill the middle, and three mixed towers wait below. Every lower car must pass through one of the two upper corners, so opening both sides at once creates a mixed queue.

Use this order:

blue upper gate -> pink upper gate -> orange top tower -> dark center bays -> cyan road transfer -> red lower-left -> green lower-middle -> purple lower-right

Blue is the safer first gate because it clears one side of the roof without pulling traffic from the bottom. Pink completes the opening, and orange then gains a direct route into the top garage.

Turning The Covered Center Into Open Space

Start with the accessible blue cars in the upper-left area. Let them finish before touching pink. Clear pink from the other upper column next. When both gates are correct, the top edge of the square should be open enough for the orange group.

Move orange as a full batch. Orange sits close to the roof of the loop and removes the first pressure from the central bays. The covered dark cars in the middle become the next priority. Work through one center bay at a time instead of exposing all four. Each completed bay gives the road another empty cell and makes the lower turn easier.

Use cyan for the side transfer once the center has opened. Cyan should travel through an almost empty square; if it stops at a corner, a dark center car is still blocking the route.

Finish the three lower towers from left to right. Red goes first, green second, and purple last. Do not open purple early simply because it is visible. Purple needs the bottom edge after red and green have stopped feeding the loop.

Recovery Checkpoints

After blue and pink, the roof should not contain mixed traffic. After orange and the dark bays, the square should look hollow. Before purple begins, the red and green towers should already be settled.

If the loop fills, stop tapping lower columns and finish the color already closest to its garage. If a covered center bay remains occupied, clear it before returning to cyan. Level 42 is usually recoverable as long as one upper corner stays free.

This solution works by converting the board in stages: two gates become one roof lane, the covered center becomes a buffer, and the three bottom towers then use the square without competing for space.

The lower sequence should remain left to right. Red empties the approach beside the first tower, green spends that newly opened space, and purple then receives the entire lower-right corner. If purple is already moving while green still has cars in the middle tower, finish green before sending another purple car. That restores the same one-corner buffer used throughout the solve.
