Protect The Central Spine Between Two Rack Walls

Car Sort: Color Puzzle Level 217 places three tall garages above an L-shaped road and two walls of horizontal shelves below it. The left racks expose yellow, green, purple, cyan, and blue; the right racks contain orange, cyan, pink, yellow, brown, and dark-red groups. A narrow vertical spine separates the walls and connects them to the top road. One covered pink counter sits in the middle-right wall.

Every rack feeds the spine. If the left and right walls release different colors together, cars meet in the center and block the top turn. The replay shows the safe pattern: shorten the top garages, clear road-edge racks, reduce the pink counter, then finish the deeper horizontal bands.

Recommended area order:

top brown/orange -> top cream -> top green/purple -> left road-edge yellow -> right orange -> right cyan -> center pink counter -> left purple/blue -> right yellow/brown -> red cleanup

Use the active spine color as the final authority. A batch must reach its garage before the opposite wall starts.

Open The Top Turn

Begin with the exposed brown or orange cars in the top-left tower. They sit beside the upper road and can clear without using the lower shelves. Cream follows from the center tower, then green or purple from the right tower as it becomes visible.

Do not start yellow from the left rack while a top car remains on the horizontal road. The yellow row enters directly beneath that car and can pin it at the junction.

The top phase is safe when one tower has shortened, the upper road is empty, and the vertical spine contains no mixed traffic. If a top color stalls, finish its visible tower rather than tapping a rack.

Alternate Walls Only At Empty-Spine Checkpoints

The highest left rack exposes yellow near the spine. Clear yellow first because it blocks the deeper green and purple rows. On the right, orange is the first strong road-edge band. Move orange only after yellow has completely left the spine.

Cyan follows from the right wall and creates a broad empty shelf. Then return to the left for purple or blue. This is not rapid left-right alternation: each switch happens only after a complete color clears.

Useful checkpoints:

  1. left yellow row disappears;
  2. right orange row empties;
  3. right cyan reaches its garage;
  4. the spine clears before left purple/blue begins.

The replay makes the geography clear. At the early checkpoint, the racks still contain mixed fronts. In the middle, full orange and cyan rows appear on the right while blue and purple bands form on the left. Late, the right wall consists of clean yellow, brown, cyan, and red rows, and the top garages are tall single-color columns.

Reduce The Pink Counter As Its Own Phase

The pink counter in the middle-right wall is a gate. Its cars enter near the center of the spine, where they can conflict with either side. Wait until the road-edge orange and cyan rows have cleared, then move pink as one batch.

When the counter drops and reveals a new pink layer, continue only if the spine remains clear. If another color appears, pause and finish pink already on the road. Do not open a left rack to create buffer space; that shelf also feeds the spine.

Pink is complete when the middle-right shelf visibly shortens and the junction beside it is empty. That state releases the deeper brown and red rows below.

If pink becomes trapped behind blue from the left, finish the color farther up the spine first. Then complete the second batch before touching the counter again.

Finish The Deep Horizontal Bands

After the gate clears, work downward through complete rows. Left purple and blue use the spine first, followed by right yellow and brown. Dark red is a late right-wall batch and should wait until the upper road no longer receives cars.

The deepest left racks may expose green and cyan. Clear the highest accessible band before the one below it. Empty shelf space should remain empty; do not fill it by tapping another color while the current batch travels.

Near the finish, the board displays strong color bands on both sides. Choose the band whose first car is closest to the empty spine. Complete it, wait for the top turn to clear, then cross to the opposite wall.

Avoid alternating yellow and cyan simply because both garages appear ready. The spine can support only one uninterrupted stream.

Recovery From A Mixed Spine

If the central lane contains two colors, stop tapping both rack walls. Identify the car nearest the top road and complete that color from its existing shelf. It has the shortest remaining route and will release the junction first. Then finish the second color before resuming the planned area order.

If the top horizontal road is blocked, stop all lower taps and finish the active top-garage color. If the lower junction is blocked, stop opening the top towers and complete the nearest rack band.

Use three replay checks:

  • top garages reduce before deep rack rows;
  • the pink counter clears after road-edge orange/cyan;
  • deep yellow, brown, blue, and red bands move only after the spine becomes a clean lane.

A replay counter may differ by one layer if taps were grouped differently, but the visible road state should match. One active color and an empty opposite rack entrance mean the solution remains recoverable.

Level 217 is a rack-order puzzle centered on one vertical spine. The top towers open the junction, road-edge rows shorten both walls, pink unlocks the deeper right shelves, and the final horizontal bands alternate only at empty-road checkpoints. Protect that spine and the crowded rack walls become a series of direct same-color runs.
